Contest Prep

If you are currently competing or looking to compete in a fitness competition, you’ve come to the right place! But first and foremost, we must address the nature of a physique competition and the physical and mental requirements that come along with it.

We take competition prep very seriously and can honestly say that it’s not for everyone. We prepare athletes for a subjective and judged sport. In return, as coaches, we are judged on the quality of athletes we place on stage. We do NOT crash diet our athletes or participate in unhealthy practices which can cause metabolic damage. With that said, the time frame to have an athlete competition ready will depend on a number of factors and will be discussed in the initial free assessment (Click here to complete assessment)

We are looking for the following characteristics in each of our current and future Strive Elite athletes:

checkmark with yesRealize that the preparation (6-16 weeks) is the sport, not the few moments you have on stage: While being on stage is fun and rewarding, you must enjoy the discipline and hard work it takes leading up to show day.

checkmark with yesUnderstand that rapid changes to your body throughout the process will occur infrequently. Contest prep is a process in which we are changing your body composition and metabolism for the better. This process takes time and you will continue to see gradual changes week after week.

checkmark with yesYou must be great at listening and following directions, and most importantly TRUST the process. For the most part, we will have  control on critical decisions regarding your contest prep – including macro nutrient ratios, water intake, cardiovascular, training, determining show dates, etc.


The process:

Throughout your entire prep, we will use a combination of methods to determine your progress. We will use weekly picture check-ins, body measurements, weight, food logs, and even subjective feedback such as: energy levels, hunger levels, strength increases or decreases, overall mood and attitude. All of these methods will allow us to determine how effective the plan is working and how to continue moving forward.
